This policy explains what personal information Money Tree Mortgage Brokers collects through this website and when you contact us, why we collect it, how we keep it, who we share it with and how you can access, correct or complain about our handling of it. It is written to follow the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
A. About Money Tree Mortgage Brokers
Money Tree Mortgage Brokers ("Money Tree", "we", "us") is a mortgage broking business led by Peter Bassilios.
This policy applies to the Money Tree website (mtmb.com.au), to enquiries you make through it or directly with us, and to the general handling of personal information in our lending-related dealings with you. Where you proceed to a formal credit-assistance process, additional notices and consents will be provided at that time (APP 5), and those documents should be read together with this policy.
B. Information we collect
Through this website we collect only what you choose to give us. Depending on how you use the site, this may include:
- your full name, email address and phone number;
- the state or territory you are in, if you tell us;
- the type of lending you are interested in and the message you write to us;
- appointment requests you make through our booking provider (see section P);
- your marketing preferences, including whether you have subscribed to our newsletter;
- details you enter to personalise a calculator PDF report (see section F); and
- limited technical information generated when you send a form, described in section C.
What we do not collect through this website. The public website does not ask for identity documents, payslips, bank statements, tax returns or other detailed financial records, and we ask you not to include them in a web form. That kind of information is only requested later, through a secure process, if you choose to proceed with credit assistance.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive information (such as health information) through the website. Specialist lending pages for medical professionals describe lender policies only; they do not ask you for health details.
C. How we collect information
We collect personal information directly from you when you:
- send an enquiry through the contact form;
- request a consultation through our booking link;
- request a personalised calculator PDF report;
- subscribe to our newsletter (we send a confirmation email first, and you are only subscribed once you confirm);
- email, call or meet with us directly.
When you submit the contact or newsletter form, our server also records the time of your consent, a shortened description of your browser and a one-way hashed, daily-rotating version of your network address. The hash is used to limit automated abuse of the form and cannot be reversed to your address. We do not record your full IP address with your enquiry.
We also use a small number of first-party browser storage items to run the website (section G). We do not currently use third-party analytics or advertising technologies.
D. Why we collect information
We collect, hold and use personal information for the following purposes (APP 3 and APP 6):
- to respond to your enquiry and answer your questions;
- to arrange and hold a consultation with you;
- to prepare a calculator report you have requested;
- to provide mortgage broking and related credit-assistance services if you decide to proceed;
- to manage our communications and records with you;
- to keep the website secure and improve how it works;
- to send you marketing communications where you have opted in (section O); and
- to meet our legal and regulatory obligations as a credit-assistance provider.
We will not use your information for an unrelated purpose without your consent unless the law permits or requires it.
E. Mortgage calculator information
The mortgage calculators on this website run entirely in your browser. The loan amounts, rates, terms and other figures you enter are processed on your device to produce the estimates, charts and schedules you see. They are not sent to our servers and we do not receive them.
If you choose to save a calculator scenario, it is kept in your browser's storage on your device only (section G). You can delete saved scenarios at any time from the calculator or by clearing your browser storage.
Calculator results are estimates for general information only. They are not a loan offer, credit approval or personal financial advice.
F. PDF report requests
When you download a personalised PDF report from a calculator, we ask for your full name, email address and phone number. Your name is printed on the report so it is useful to you later.
How this works today. The report is generated and downloaded immediately in your browser. On this website version, the name, email address and phone number you enter are used only to personalise the report on your device: they are not transmitted to Money Tree, not stored on our servers and not stored in your browser after the report is prepared. Because nothing is sent to us, we will not contact you as a result of downloading a report unless you contact us separately.
We intend to introduce a secure server-side process so that Peter can follow up on report requests. If and when that is introduced, this section will be updated before it goes live to describe exactly what is stored, for how long, and who may contact you.
The report form includes a separate, unticked box for marketing emails. Downloading a report does not require you to agree to marketing, and ticking the box is optional (section O).
G. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website does not set cookies. It uses a small number of first-party browser storage items that are necessary for the website to work and to remember your choices. We only use optional analytics or marketing technologies with your permission, and none are installed at present.
You can review or change your choices at any time using the control, which is also available from the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer of every page. Withdrawing your permission for optional technologies stops them from being used; it does not affect essential storage needed to run the site.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Category | Storage and duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| mtmb-consent | Money Tree (this website) | Remembers your cookie choices: essential, analytics and marketing flags, the policy version and the time you chose. No personal details. | Essential | Browser local storage; kept until you clear it or we change the consent version |
| mtmb-calc-<calculator> | Money Tree (this website) | Saved calculator scenarios you choose to keep on your device (loan inputs only; no identity). | Essential, created only when you click "Save current" | Browser local storage; kept until you delete the scenario or clear storage |

| mtmb-engagement, mtmb-prompt-shown, mtmb-contacted | Money Tree (this website) | Counters and flags (seconds of active browsing, pages viewed, whether the contact panel was shown) used to decide whether to show that panel once per visit. No identity. | Essential | Browser session storage; cleared when the browser tab or window is closed |
| Google Analytics / Tag Manager | Aggregate website-usage measurement. | Analytics (optional) | Not installed on this website. If enabled in future it will only run after you allow analytics in Cookie Preferences. | |
| Advertising measurement | Google Ads, Meta | Campaign measurement. | Marketing (optional) | Not installed on this website. If enabled in future it will only run after you allow marketing in Cookie Preferences. |
This inventory reflects an audit of this website on 10 October 2026.
H. Analytics and website usage
No analytics platform, tag manager or advertising pixel is currently configured on this website. We do not use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager or similar tools at present.
If we introduce website analytics in future, we will only use it to understand how the website is used in aggregate, it will only run after you allow "analytics" in Cookie Preferences, and this policy will be updated first. We will not send your name, email address, phone number, enquiry text or the figures you enter into calculators to any analytics or advertising platform.
I. Disclosure to third parties
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose personal information to the following kinds of recipients, only to the extent needed for the purposes in section D:
- Lenders and credit providers you ask us to approach, if you proceed with a loan enquiry or application;
- our credit licensee or aggregator and related compliance and audit functions;
- technology providers who host this website and our enquiry records (section K);
- our booking and application platforms, which you use directly on their own websites (section P);
- professional advisers such as lawyers, accountants or insurers, where needed; and
- regulators, courts, dispute-resolution bodies or law-enforcement agencies where the law requires or permits it.
A website enquiry on its own is only shared with the people who respond to it and the systems that store it. Wider disclosures, such as to lenders, happen only when you proceed to an application and after you have been given the notices and consents that apply to that process.
J. Overseas disclosure
Website enquiry and newsletter records are stored on a server operated for us by our web developer.
When you use our booking link or pre-approval portal, you provide information directly to those providers, and they may store it outside Australia under their own policies (section P).
Before we disclose personal information to an overseas recipient ourselves, we will take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APP 8), or we will tell you and seek your consent where required. We do not claim that all personal information remains in Australia unless we have confirmed it.
K. Storage and security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure (APP 11). On this website these steps currently include:
- encrypted connections (HTTPS) between your browser and the website;
- server-side validation, rate limiting and anti-automation checks on forms;
- storing enquiry records in a database on the hosting server that is not publicly accessible, with the administration area protected by authentication;
- limiting access to enquiry records to the people who need it to respond to you; and
- not keeping your full network address with your enquiry.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your information has been compromised, please contact us (section R).
L. Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as it is needed for the purposes it was collected for, and for any period required by law. How long that is depends on the type of record:
- Website enquiries and newsletter records are kept while we are dealing with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards.
- Credit-assistance records created if you proceed with an application are subject to regulatory record-keeping requirements that apply to credit-assistance providers, and are kept for the period those requirements set.
- Browser storage items described in section G are held on your device and are under your control.
When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to destroy it or de-identify it. We do not apply a single deletion period to all records, because different records have different legal requirements.
M. Access and correction
You may ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or misleading (APP 12 and APP 13). To make a request, contact us using the details in section R and tell us what you are asking for.
We will respond within a reasonable time and will usually not charge you for a request. We may need to verify your identity before releasing information. If we refuse a request, we will tell you why and how you can complain.
N. Privacy complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information or breached the Australian Privacy Principles, please contact us first (section R) and describe the issue. We will acknowledge your complaint, look into it and respond to you in writing.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Complaints about our credit-assistance services (rather than privacy) are handled through a separate process, including access to an external dispute-resolution scheme.
O. Direct marketing
We only send marketing emails, such as our mortgage newsletter, if you have opted in (APP 7). Opting in is always a separate, unticked choice; it is never a condition of making an enquiry, booking a consultation or downloading a report.
When you subscribe to the newsletter we send a confirmation email first and only add you once you confirm. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to stop at any time using the details in section R. Unsubscribing does not affect the service emails we send in response to your enquiry or application.
We do not share your details with other organisations for their marketing.
P. Third-party websites
This website links to services operated by other organisations. When you use them, their privacy policies apply, not this one:
- Calendly (calendly.com) — used to book a free chat with Peter. The booking page is on Calendly's website; we do not embed it here. Calendly sets its own cookies and collects the details you enter there.
- Pre-approval portal (app.middle.finance) — the "Apply online for pre-approval" link opens our application partner's portal in a new tab. Information you enter there is collected by that provider.
- Social media — links to our Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn profiles.
We encourage you to read those providers' policies before using their services.
Q. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our website, services or legal obligations change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. Material changes that affect how we collect or use your information will be reflected here before they take effect, and where appropriate we will tell you directly.
